Bug Report: Abnormal Monster and Terramite Behavior
Dear ZEV Management Team,
I would like to report several issues related to the behavior and movement of certain creatures in the Caves. Their behavior appears to differ significantly from the standard mechanics of Don’t Starve Together, and these issues directly affect gameplay and the overall experience.
1. Depth Worm and Nightmare Werepig
Several monsters, particularly Depth Worms and Nightmare Werepigs, appear to have abnormal movement and combat behavior compared to the standard version of Don’t Starve Together.
Specifically:
-
Their movement and teleportation appear to be inconsistent and poorly synchronized.
-
When a player attracts their aggro, there seems to be a delay of several seconds before they begin attacking.
-
This delay makes their behavior feel unnatural, especially when compared to the base game, where their response to an aggroed player is much more immediate and consistent.
-
The lack of synchronization between their movement and attacks may also significantly affect how players are able to dodge and deal with these monsters.
I suspect this may be related to their AI, state synchronization, aggro handling, or pathfinding.
2. Terramite
There is also an issue with Terramites, which are intended to assist with grass and twigs harvesting.
Instead of moving normally toward grass that needs to be harvested, Terramites seem to continuously run along the edges of fences. This behavior does not occur in the standard version of Don’t Starve Together.
As a result, Terramites have significant difficulty reaching and harvesting grass, making them almost useless for their intended purpose.
3. Summary
I would appreciate it if the ZEV team could check the following:
-
The aggro and attack delay of Depth Worms and Nightmare Werepigs.
-
The movement, pathfinding, and synchronization of these monsters.
-
The pathfinding behavior of Terramites, particularly their tendency to remain along the edges of fences.
-
Compare these behaviors with the corresponding mechanics in the vanilla version of Don’t Starve Together to determine what is causing the differences.
These behaviors do not appear to be normal mechanics from the base game, so I hope the team can investigate and address these issues in a future update.
Thank you for taking the time to review this report.

In the past, we applied a patch that reduced the AI complexity of certain creatures as one of the measures to reduce server lag.
The AI behavior of player-used robots, summons, and similar entities was later restored to the original settings, but it appears that the monsters are still using the reduced AI settings from that time.
We will restore the monsters' AI behavior to the original vanilla behavior in the next patch.
Thank you for reporting this issue.
